Tullomer™ Fiber: Ultra-Fine High-Performance Monofilament for Advanced Materials Applications (7/1/26)

Tullomer™ Fiber is an ultra-fine liquid crystal polymer (LCP) fiber platform developed by Z-Polymers, designed to deliver high strength-to-weight performance, thermal stability, chemical resistance, and flame resistance for advanced industrial and technical applications. The material is built on a highly ordered molecular architecture achieved through precision monofilament extrusion, controlled molecular orientation, and a catalytic post-process that further increases molecular alignment and final mechanical performance. This process enables the production of ultra-thin monofilaments with tightly controlled diameter, tension, and draw ratios, allowing consistent performance at very fine fiber scales. As a result, Tullomer™ behaves more like a structural engineering fiber than a conventional polymer monofilament. Its ultra-thin form factor enables lightweight and flexible constructions, high surface area structures, and precision woven or braided architectures, including fine textiles, scrims, and reinforcement fabrics. The fiber is inherently flame resistant, highly resistant to chemicals and moisture, and offers strong dielectric performance, making it suitable for demanding environments where durability and stability are critical. Demonstrated on production-relevant equipment, it has been produced in both monofilament and multifilament formats, with scale-up focused on improving yield, consistency, and cost efficiency. Potential applications include filtration scrims, technical textiles, high-temperature sewing thread, braided fishing line, aerospace and defense textiles, medical-device braiding, semiconductor and cleanroom components, composite reinforcement, and other high-performance industrial fabrics. Compared to existing LCP fibers such as Vectran, Tullomer™ differentiates through its ultra-thin monofilament capability, high mechanical and thermal performance, and adaptability across new fiber formats.
